A unitised curtain-wall facade system wraps the tower, with steel transoms distributing the structural load to the primary exoskeleton. Strong horizontal lines are created by solar photovoltaic panels and self-shading elements.
This building will set a new industry benchmark for low-carbon, high-comfort and low-energy-consumption buildings. Atlassian is a part of the RE100 program, which helps accelerate change towards zero carbon and renewable energy. Renewable energy powers the entire Atlassian office.
The building structure incorporates concrete megafloors on every fourth floor, with timber floors on every floor in between. The facade needs to be installed after the megafloors but before the timber floors. The installation team will work at four-storey heights using platforms, which presents a safety challenge and requires careful coordination.
One elevation of the facade is located directly over a train platform at Central Station. Extra rigorous safety measures will be in place to minimise the risk of health and safety incidents, as this would impact the operation of the station.
